XXXXXXXXXXYesterday Mar 5 at 7:37pm XXXXXXXXXXAn environmental law that I selected is 42 U.S.C. §13101 et seq. (1990), which is the Summary of the Pollution Prevention Act. This act protect the amount of pollution that large businesses and corporations utilize. Reducing the products that these corporations use to reduce the amount of pollution is also beneficial to companies as it has been made a cost efficient task. My current employer complies with this act by being a paper free enviornment. Not only does that reduce the amount of paper thrown out from business needs it also reduces the pens, papers, filing cabinets, folders and ink utilized. This also makes our job a whole lot easier as everything is virtual for us. It cuts down on the fraud attempts and protects the supporting carrier and consumers. This is a very helpful regulation especially because it creates a greater need of security.
In my job I assist customers with filing insurance claims. Of course with that we have to verify that customer are authorized to file the claim. The verification is a process that has to be filled out and sent back. Another step that my current employer has taken is allowing that to be done electronically instead of being faxed. Uploading to a site makes the tax less tedious and vulnerable to fraud.

As I work in a manufacturing environment, a lot of the regulation involves both the production and waste disposal of the items produced. Because we manufacture different types of light fixtures, fluorescent lamps, led boards and metal housings, it is important that we utilize the proper disposal methods as some of these products can possess harmful materials. In this case, the fluorescent bulbs contain mercury and are treated as universal waste. Although not as hazardous as most, the company must still follow the requirements laid out by the Resource and Recovery Act, which “contains requirements for managing, treating, and disposing of hazardous wastes” (“Federal Environmental Requirements for Construction,” XXXXXXXXXXTo maintain compliance, the company has particular processes in place for waste disposal and holds regular meetings to ensure the company is up to date on any policies that may have been updated or changed.
I believe that environmental regulations help businesses for the simple fact that they keep themselves and the communities around them safe by adhering to the laws and regulations set forth. Along with safety, the environmental regulations in place also protect the environment from harm. Failing to protect the environment can create bigger problems than simply individual harm or sickness, so it is paramount that laws and regulations are in place to be sure businesses are doing their part. Aside from the bigger picture, failing to meet the regulations and requirements can result in fairly severe penalties, such as up to $27,500 per day or a criminal penalty of up to $250,000 and 15 years in prison (“Federal Environmental Requirements for Construction,” 2018).
