Ender’s Game By Orson Scott Card
BATTLE: Chapter 15 “Speaker for the Dead”
This is an individual assignment, not an army assignment. You should not be collaborating.
You may use your book. This is BIG points. Spend time on this.
I suggest two days. Think of it like a final exam.
COMMANDER TURN-IN: Print your answers. Staple each person’s notes behind the handout.
Don’t staple them all together.
MLA your document for just you, not your entire army. Include a WCP. This will be a language score.
A visitor comes to Ender and proposes a trip. What might be Card’s purpose for this scene?
Evaluate the buggers’ strategy in how they make contact with Ender. Provide two pieces of evidence to support, and provide one piece of concession/rebuttal. Be sure to acknowledge the merits of the other side’s argument but conclude with how you are more right.
Explain the two books Ender wrote, the titles, what they contain, their purpose, and their importance to society. Be detailed.
What does “speaker for the dead” come to mean? Be very specific. Explain it in detail.
Give your general reaction to the book in 200 words or more, but limit it to one page. Use a page break so it is on its own piece of paper.
[That means you work will be at least three pages long: answers to 1-5; answer to 6; WCP...frankly, I think you are going to need two pages to answer 1-5 well].
Also, add it to the form on the EG webpage.
