Dwarf Planet Ceres In this exercise we will use the Starry Night Enthusiast™ program to locate locate the largest asteroid, Ceres, now designated a dwarf planet. Select Favourites Solar System Comets and Asteroids Ceres and the Main Belt from the menu and click the Stop button to stop time flow. Ceres will not yet be labeled. Write down the general region of the solar system in which you expect to find it. Now turn on the label for Ceres by opening the Find pane, clearing the search box and expanding the Dwarf Planets listing. Click the box to the left of the entry for Ceres so it is checked. This will label Ceres in the view. In the Find pane, click the check box to the right of the label for Ceres in the list to display this object’s orbit. Use the Location Scroller to move the screen around. Does Ceres move in the plane of the ecliptic?
