    2. Describe your own self-concept, taking time to reflect on both positive and negative perceptions you have about yourself. In your reflections think about your views in relation to appearance, personality, and overall strengths/weaknesses. I am looking for thoughtful reflection here, so take the time to really dig deep and be thoughtful and honest in your discussion. This response should consist of at least two well developed paragraphs. (10 points)

    3. Conduct interviews with at least three people who you have a personal relationship with to get information on their perception of you. You can choose to talk with your interviewees in person or via some electronic medium (e.g., e-mail, message in Facebook). Example questions are: what do you view as my biggest strength and weakness and why? What is my most unique characteristic? How has your perception of me changed over time? Drawing on the interviews, compare/contrast your perception to what others reported. Discuss consistencies that existed as well as areas that were surprising or conflicting, and analyze why you think these similarities and differences exist. Discuss if/how you think identity management influenced the responses you received. This response should consist of at least two well developed paragraphs. (10 points)

Be specific for each in explaining what image you hope to portray and specific ways you influence your communication to portray that image. Engage in honest reflection and try to find meaningful examples of your differing selves.

A. Self-concept is the perception or
the image we have of ourselves. It is developed in a number of ways such as interactions with some great people during our lifetime. Further, the self-perception is important as it impacts the enthusiasms, activities and the attitudes of the people (Cherry).
B. My self-concept is that, I am a man from the Afro-American community. I am smart, tall and ambivert. I also care about my family and it is my family which contributes to most towards making my identity in the society.
I am humble yet get socially sometimes I get impatient when unable to do some work. I also see myself to be contradicting to myself when it comes to dichotomy. I like to being around people and like to be a more listener than a speaker. Further, my parents and sister are significant part of my self-concept.
C. The three persons I have interviewed with on the self-concept are my father, my teacher and my friend, Ben. My father states that my biggest strength is my being flexibility and curiosity to learn new things. While the weakness is impatience. This perception of my father towards me have not yet changed. My college teacher’s perception towards me is that I am creative and open-minded. But she states that it is fear of speaking in public is the greatest weaknesses. Yet there has been changes observed by my teacher where he found that I am able to speak on specific topics in different events. Finally, the perception of my friend Ben is that I am friendly and cooperative. He does not find any weaknesses in me.
