Correctional programs should target at improving lives of the convicts in the future.
There are pr
edominantly two objectives of correctional programs, one is about reforming and the
other is about retribution. The latter is a harsher objective to be fulfilled by the correctional
programs. Vengeance, in my view, should not be the ultimate objective of any correctional
program and I do think that the effectiveness of any correctional program or its effectiveness
should not be measured by how many numbers of prisoners/convicts are given death sentence or
how many of them are serving life without parole. But the effectiveness of correctional programs
