Does the nurse (or doctor) who works in the A&E department have a duty in law to assess the priority to be given to a patient and could she be held liable in the civil courts for failures in making that assessment?

Do you consider that the spouse of a patient suffering from a sexually transmitted disease should have a right to be told of the spouse’s medical condition? What is the law on this?
