    ExxonMobil is one of the largest oil companies in the world founded in 1999 by merging the two oil companies of Exxon & Mobil. The company was engaged in a climate change controversy because of its activities that were related to global warming and their activities were also opposing the established aspects of climate science. Exxon begins research on climate during the 1970s. Thereafter, they began to make certain moves that were conducted with the purpose of dealing with the actions and acceptance of global warming.
Exxon’s Disobedience of Environmental Laws
In 1980 the company denied some of the regulations that were concerned with climate change and aspects of curtailing global warming. This continued for almost more than 20 years till the mid of 2000s. Their activities and perception were critical to the give lessons like the Kyoto Protocol and even the funded organizations for criticizing and undermining the public opinion about the consensus of global warming (Swarup). The company has also founded an organization of Global Climate Coalition that opposed the regulations of greenhouse gas emissions. The company was one of the major competitive oil and gas Exploration Company and it was seen that most of its competitors had to diversify their products into alternative energy and renewable fuels around 2005 to 2010. According to the reports of the Union of Concerned Scientists, the company implemented strategies and tactics by funding climate change denials. Moreover, the company had also helped the advancement of climate change denial internationally. It was an unfortunate incident that the company has funded more than $ 20 million to the organization for supporting climate change denial.
