second 2 discussion
Psychologist Daniel Goleman identified six different persons of leadership styles in his book Primal Leadership. The six leadership styles are visionary, coach, affiliation, democratic, pacesetter and commander.
Visionary leadership is when the leader tries to get everyone to vision the same plan. Coach leadership focuses on members of the workplace to reach a certain goal, as a sports coach would want for a player. An affiliative leader wants to make sure that the group is at peace with one another and is working well with each other. This leadership persona believes that it is more important that the group works together as a team to achieve goals. A democratic leader values a member’s input or feedback to be used for decision making. Pacesetter leadership requires members of the organization to work meet goals by setting a strong example. Lastly, a commander leader provides clear directions to the members and expects them to follow through.
Two other leadership prototypes that could be added is transformational and transactional leadership. Transformational leaders wants to inspire the members of the organization rather than give orders. Transactional leadership is when members are self motivated and they work by the rules that the leader sets.
