Discuss the first three steps you would complete in assessing a patient with this complaint. Then, discuss at least two differential diagnoses for a patient with chest pain. 1. Identifying Position/ Provoking factors: Finding out the point where pain is happening and what helps in improving the pain and what make it worse are starting questions that one need to know. It is also important to know if repositioning results in change of pain. What kind of activity was the patient involved in when first time the pain was experienced.
2. Quality of Pain: Description of type of pain or discomfort should be known. It includes if the pain is dull, very sharp, or stabbing one. There might be cases when the pain radiates to other areas at the time of experiencing it. It is better to know the exact points which enables immediate and better action to curb it.
3. Time: Timely identification of severity of pain and what are the related symptoms. The symptoms can be identified better if the duration of pain is known. Or it is known that if pain is intermittent or continuous. Generally, Angina pain last for duration of 2 to 5 minute...
