Barbara Rogoff’s book, “The Cultural Nature of Human Development”, is an important
work emphasizing on the importance of culture and it is a book reading which one can
understand how the course of our daily lives is, to a great extent, influenced by the specific
cultures embraced by the different human societies across the globe. The development of an
individual is greatly reliant on cultural processes and this fact undeniable because a person’s
belief system, his/her thought process, and his/her role in the society is greatly determined by the
culture within which he/she grows up.
It is always important for a person to understand the importance of his/her own cultural
heritage but simultaneously it is also important that a person learn about the cultures of other
people. It is these understandings which can help a person to evolve socially. And I must admit
