The U.S. expansionist policies in the 1890s were initiated by diffe
rent reasons and among
those the primary reasons were economic and religious (ideological). It was the boost in the U.S
economy and the recurrence of over-production and under-consumption which shaped the post-
Civil War economic history of the U.S. And to cope up with these particular problems the U.S.
industrialists adapted policies to pressurize the government to indulge in formulating
expansionist policies so that the surplus production could be distributed to foreign markets. It
