Background
In contemporary care settings, it is unusual for patients to receive the care services of just one care provider. Rather, a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals provides care coordination, and nurses must be prepared to function as members of that team. All nursing professionals are team players at a certain stage in life before they are licensed, whether it is in education, a job, a sporting team, or as a component of charitable activities (Anderson et al., 2019). Teamwork is an important aspect of being a nurse; it also produces a coordinated working environment, ensuring sick people get high-quality services, which results in enhanced health outcomes. Nursing is a multidimensional profession, so it's no wonder that the teams in which nurses can work are equally diverse. Nurses manage care coordination with the multidisciplinary teams as well as patient information and care. The Importance of Teamwork
The healthcare industry is fast-paced as well as rapidly evolving; patients have been living longer lives with increasingly complex healthcare needs; and there has been a worldwide nursing shortage, which has increased demand for retraining in previously unneeded areas (Sandelin et al., 2019). Since one individual cannot perform all of the essential activities in these encounters with sick people, there is a complicated web of information sharing, communication with all relevant parties, awareness of the ever-changing circumstance, and access to resources, in addition to the requirement for documentation. If any of these components fails, the patient may not receive the necessary care, medicine, or discharge guidance, or, in the most serious circumstance, an intensification of their state may not happen, resulting in harm (Lateef, 2022).
It is widely acknowledged that teams that collaborate very well as well as communicate properly function better and deliver improved patient care services. Poor teamwork is always associated with a rise in the number of missed care opportunities, which includes assisting patients with mobilization, oral care, and communicating with the patient regarding tests or processes (Lateef, 2022). Patient safety should be prioritized. However, when there is a collapse in teamwork, particularly in the communication element, patient care suffers directly and adversely. Undergraduate nurse practitioners should have the confidence to speak up, pose questions, be responsible for any mistakes they commit by documenting them to the relevant personnel, and confront poor practice (Morrell et al., 2020).
