It is really difficult to control the natural disaster and prev
ent from its tragedies. The
affects of natural disasters like storm Sandy are highly severe for the communities in terms of
monetary and physical losses as well as for humanity (Aoun, 2012). As, it is well known that
these kinds of natural disasters and storms cannot be controlled and stopped, thus,
communities should find out different ways to prevent from these tragedies at maximum level
and damage would be at minimum. In this concern, government and local communities can
think with a perspective of risk management and implement some risk mitigation strategies
and plans to protect the equipments and material from loses.
Strategies to Prevent Tragedies from another storm Sandy
Local communities and government should not ignore the warning given by scientist
about the expectations of Sandy storm and they should prepare sufficient measures with the
help of institution in charge of infrastructure. In addition to this, in order to prevent the
tragedies and damages, government and local communities should have arranged enough
resources and facilities to save people from tragedies of Sandy (The Huffington Post, 2012).
As a risk management perspective, preparation to prevent tragedies from storm Sandy
should comprise both long term and short term protection. Local communities should focus
