The daily routine at workplace can result in monotonous environment for the staff resulting in low motivation. This kind of situation is deleterious for the organization and employees who are working for achie
ving the target. To maintain the situation of high motivation one should keep making efforts so that the efficiency of the work is not affected. Below are the major points that needs to be addressed which can help in maintaining and also improving the motivation of staff at the workplace.
Rewards and Recognition: Recognizing the hard work that employees put in their work is very important for ensuring that the dedication for doing it continues. It provides a feel of recognition for an employee when their efforts are recognized and also motivates other employees to achieve the same feat that their peers have achieved.
Goal Setting: When a team is working for a target to achieve the final goal has to be seen achievable. It might be demotivating for the people who are working in a project whose outcome is not fixed and the work seems like the never-ending types. When the goals are more achievable the progress can be measured in better manner and is motivating when small targets are achieved.
Manifesting Results: This comes with the part of goal setting and achieving it. Once the goal is achieved it is important that the staff who were working on it knows on how much they have contributed in bringing the change to the organization. When every small effort is appreciated it results in better motivation level for the employees and result in improved outcomes. Telling the employees in this manner, Hey Alex, your contribution has helped in reduction of errors in future reports by 10%. This kind of conversation helps the employees also measure their efforts and motivates to make improvements for the future.
Maintaining the positive environment: Even though the results are not coming as expected by the manager. It is to be ensured that the environment for the future work stays healthy and positive. Mistakes and downfalls are generally common in small period, but this should not continue for longer duration. To avoid this manager or the team leader should help the employees and keep the conversation alive in the workplace that might give rise to any negativity due to downfall in achieving results. Regular Breaks: Any place cannot stay motivated when people working there are burned out. Taking regular breaks to keep the energy up is vital for every employee which should also be allowed to be done at the convenience of the employee. Even though the workload is high continuously working will result in low quality of output and even falling efficiency.
