Directions : This project will ask you to continue working with the community you selected for your digital ethnography project. However, for the next two projects, you will use what you’ve learned about this community to consider ways this group might do some good in the world through a social cause relevant to the group’s interests.
This project will ask you to research that social cause to become a mini-expert on the issue. And the final project for this class will ask you to use this knowledge to develop a digital campaign with the goal of motivating your community to enact change.
Guidelines and requirements
To become better informed on your social cause of choice, you’ll be researching articles to become a mini-expert on your topic. You will use these sources to create an annotated bibliography on your chosen topic: a collection of online articles, images, or videos that represent a wide range of opinions, ideas, and arguments around your topic.
For each source, you must include a properly formatted citation as well as an annotation. Each annotation should be at least 100 words and should cover the following points::
Summarize source and pull a valuable quote where the author's or speaker’s biases or beliefs can be inferred
Assess the credibility/reliability of the source and discuss where it would be plotted on your media bias chart
Reflect on how it might (or might not) be useful to someone researching this topic
You’ll need to amass at least five (5) sources on your topic of choice. These will be shared via your class blog.
Note: All sources don’t need to be perfectly accurate, unbiased, and credible. However, you should be able to identify and thoughtfully discuss the ways each article meets quality expectations or not.
My affinity group is THe Church of Satan.
Sources to annotate:
- Here’s an article that discusses the Church of Satan as a feminist organization:https://www.theguardian.com/world/shortcuts/2018/jan/08/chelsea-clinton-church-satan-got-cool
And looking at their Twitter, they seem very vocal about listening to scientists for guidance with coronavirus rather than"praying it away”:

Please annotate these as per instructions! and cite properly.

answer this after doing the annotated sources:
- Discuss your research process. What search platforms did you use? Which were most useful? Successes? Frustrations? Surprises?
- Discuss the findings from your research. What did you learn about your social cause that you didn't know before?
- Explore how this research might be relevant to your affinity group and what good they might be able to do with this information.
