DIRECTIONS: First, the midterm examination will be a take home. But, because it is a take home exam, my expectations are high. I expect a well thought out answer that is grammatically correct with no spelling mistakes, and to be clear and succinct. It is not necessary to produce page after page after page to answer the question; that said, I think a 4 or 5 page paper should cover it. The font should be 12 point. You will be asked to answer the following questions and turn it into the Departmental Secretary, Joshua Winborne in Temple Hall 363 no later than 5PM on Tuesday October 16th. Your name should be on every page and it should be stapled! I will not accept electronic copies, I have much more to do with my time than print off your exams so I can make comments on your papers.
*Please note that Joshua goes to lunch from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM, so he will not be there during that time.

Culture Defined
Human beings have different opinions about culture and its presence in their systems of li
fe. The term could be used to refer to a collection of perceptions, ideologies and principles about ways of life engraved within different groups of people. Individuals incorporate diverse cultural systems of life depending on their geographical locations. Defining culture includes adherence to beliefs, morals and principles outlined by different individuals in different regions. Norms and other ethical issues can also be used define culture and its practise (“Culture,” n.d).
Communication and identification make up some of the basic components in defining culture. Human beings are often identified by their behaviour and belief. The main objective for the establishment of culture was to enhance and maintain a sustainable moral group of individuals. Different people are therefore able to identify themselves with certain beliefs and ideologies. Use of communication in culture has improved mutual coexistence among members in a given society. This form of interrelationship helps in creating a sense of identification and belonging among individuals (“Culture,” n.d).
The movie “Images on a Global Screen” illustrates that the presence of a cultural framework and guidelines help in defining the existence of different types of human personalities. Human beings acquire different behaviours depending on their background beliefs. It is obvious that different individuals would act, think and relate differently depending on their cultural environment (“Culture,” n.d). Social relativism makes the basic component in human formation. Different individuals often consume different information into their mind set up as they grow within different cultures. This has thus led to integration among human behaviours. Through culture, human perceptions are often conditioned to suit requirements of a given society. It shows how culture can be integrated and differentiated among the lives of different individuals. The overall descriptions of certain principles and phenomena rely on distinctive beliefs and perceptions that constitute a whole system as portrayed in the movie.
