Differentiate between selective breeding and cloning as mechanisms for preserving desirable characteristics in farm animals.

Though, both selective breeding and cloning techniques are utilized to obtain better
organisms in terms of nutrition, yield and/or resistance yet, the mechanism of both differs. For
instance; in selective breeding, breeders manage to cross two members of the same species that
might consist of dominant alleles for particular genes as; one may possess dominant allele for
long life and other may have dominant allele for high yield. (fda.gov)
Now, if crossing is performed between these then, at least in few off springs both of the
desirable characteristics may be present. Since here breeders are selectively breeding the
organisms to generate more favorable qualities in the progeny hence; the technique is known as;
