Developing a research question requires working through each of the following steps:
· Narrowing your topic.
· Using sources to discover aspects of the topic that are controversial or need investigation.
· Developing a few possible research questions based on what you find in your sources. These should be one sentence questions that are simple and clear.
· Choosing one of these questions to be the research question for your essay.
To complete this assignment, first write out your research question. Once you have written out your research question, locate two relevant sources using any of the resources we've discussed. Then submit a post thatanswers the following questions for each source:
What are the benefits of physical activity during pregnancy?
1. What is the main point or argument that the author makes in the article/book chapter/video? What key inferences and conclusion does the author make?
2. What evidence or information is given to support this argument. Does the evidence have an identified source (an expert, organization, journal, etc.)? If experts are cited, what credentials do they have? Do you find the sources to be credible? Why or why not?
3. How persuasive is the source? Do you find the evidence consistent with the argument? Is the argument convincing? If so, explain why. If there is insufficient evidence for you to judge the argument, what additional evidence would be needed for you to judge the validity of the claim?
4. What general assumptions does the author make? What is the author taking for granted? From what world view does the author seem to be writing? Is there another world view or point of view to consider?
5. Do you see any biasesin the article? If so, how do these affect the persuasiveness of the argument?
6. Do you agree or disagree with the author? How does the article help you formulate an answer to your research question?
Be sure to include a citation for each source consulted.
