Developing a Research Proposal
Design a true experiment to study the relationship betweenalcohol consumptionandviolent attitudesorviolent behavior. Test one of the following two hypotheses: (a) Alcohol consumption increases the likelihood of violent behavior; or (b) Alcohol consumption increases the likelihood of violent attitudes.True Experiment
Hypothesis being tested, a or b?(1) Describe how subjects would be recruited to be in the experiment. (5 points)(2) Describe how subjects would be assigned to each group, label the groups (e.g., experiment, control), and how the groups would differ (e.g., which group(s) will receive the intervention cited below). (5 points)(3) Describe what would constitute the pre/post-test. (5 points)(4) Describe an “intervention”or treatment that might be appropriate for this experiment. That is, develop an intervention that would theoretically be likely to increase either violent attitudes or violent behavior (depending on which you have chosen to test). (5 points)(5) Write a brief one paragraph explanation to give to the subjects that describes the purpose of the experiment and what they will be expected to do. It is okay to have some level of deception (or perhapstelling less than the “whole truth” if theyou believe it is necessary). (5 points)Preparation and Submission
