Determine the confidence interval for Ppk for the data set in using the bias correction procedure. Compare this interval to the noncorrected interval determined as an example in this chapter.
Catapult Exercise: Conduct a variance components analysis of the catapult considering bands (3 bands), mount of bands (2 remounts of bands), repeatability of shots (2 replications), and reproducibility of measurements (2 people measuring the distance). There will be a total of 24 recordings for this experiment; however, there will be only 12 shots because two people will be making a shot measurement at the same time. The sequence of events is as follows:
• Choose a rubber band, mount the band, take a shot, and measure the distance twice by two spotters.
• Take another shot and measure the distance with two spotters.
• Remount the rubber bands, take a shot, and measure the distance twice with two spotters.
• Take another shot and measure the distance with two spotters.
• Select another rubber band, mount the band, take a shot, and measure the distance twice with two spotters.
• Repeat the above until a total of 24 readings (12 shots) are completed. Estimate the variance components and assess the significance of the factors.
