1. THE CONCEPT
Music is the best inhaler of all times; it is remedies to all the pains. Once you get lost in
music you forget all the worldly pain and get aesthetic pleasure. There are a number of
genres of music but people choose it on the basis of their tastes and preferences. It is
also seen that people choose their music according to their age as well. This site is a
multimedia site designed for music lovers of young generation. Young generation
people are quite choosy when it comes to music and they do not want to compromise
on their taste and preferences. With everything going online, multimedia does not lag
behind. The young generation spends plenty of time on internet and they heavily rely on
internet for their entertainment needs. So, there are flooding numbers of websites that
offer music to their online users where they can listen online or download their favourite
music.150
1.1. Website Name
Dazzler
Set your mood on fire!
1.2. About Website
Dazzler is designed keeping tastes and preferences of young generation into
consideration. However, the young generation listens to music of all genres but the
majority of them love the contemporary music. There are great numbers of websites
that offer music of all genres but you will find the rare ones that offer music for young
generation. The young generation loves rock, punk, post-hardcore, rap, hip hop etc. The
site will contain the songs from all these genres and they will be in great numbers so
that the customers can be served with lot of choices which is one of the most crucial
factors for an online music store. Apart from the choices, the customers look for a good
user interface where they can easily navigate through and get all they want. The
website should have a good colour scheme that gives aesthetic pleasure to the
customers.
The very look and feel of the site will add to the success of the site. There are many
factors that determine the quality of the site. Our aim is to build a plan for the site that
can attract optimum number of target audience. The audience has become quite choosy
and they exert more bargaining power considering the severe competition in the
marketplace. Everyone is trying to offer the customers a value service and they try to
keep some part of their service unique so that they can attract them. One cannot
choose to avoid the customers' expectations especially after it set to the next level.
They have to offer a value for money proposition and even if they are offering free
content, they will have to offer value as there are many who are offering such services
for free. In our context, the music is offered by so many website and there is need to
create a website which offers a reach customer experience.
2. TARGET AUDIENCE
Multimedia Website Design 4
It is essential that the target audience is clearly defined. Having no defined target
audience means you are moving in dark. A well defined audience gives a right direction.
The site becomes focused to cater to only those people rather catering to the whole
mass.
2.1. Age
The target audience will be in the age group of 15-25 years. These customers will be
mainly tee agers or youngsters. They will be either school or college going who are
quite passionate about their tastes and preferences of music. They possess a honed
taste for the music and they do not compromise upon their taste.
2.2. Gender
The website will target both the genders. It aims at targeting the young generation
irrespective of their genders. Both the genders have the same kind of passion for music
and same kind of tastes.
2.3. Justification
The young generation has major pie in the overall population. When it comes to music,
this generation shows the greatest enthusiasm no other generation can. They do
whatever it takes to satisfy their passion of music. This generation is driven by their
passion and music is the most popular hobby every teen ager has. Additionally, the
people from this generation spend most of their time on internet and they come across
many web pages daily. They heavily rely on internet for all their entertainment needs
whether music, social networking, studies or information. It is much obvious that they
will prefer to listen to songs online when most of the time they are online.
3. COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
3.1. Good Sites
The best and widely recognised music websites are iTunes, Stereogum, and MySpace.
iTunes is a website by Apple Inc. which is considered to be the most popular one. The
sites have all the irrelevant elements a music lover can expect from a music website.
The colour scheme of the site is amazing and it has a crystal touch which matches to
products listed on the website. The content of the website is quite rich and uniquely
designed. The contents are placed wisely and the selection of the images does ice on
the cakes. Also, it offers a wide selection of choices which one cannot find anywhere
else. MySpace is a plain but quite effective website. The website is truly user friendly
and it offers a great browsing experience to the users. It contains a nicely placed video
on the top which seems like a header. The colour scheme of the website stands out and
speaks in volumes. The third website Stereogum is also a quite popular website having
a large visitor base. Again this site is quite user friendly and offers a rich experience to
its visitors. It has kept it quite simple when it comes to the categories. The categories
are listed as the site navigation and users can easily find what they are looking for
rather wasting so music time surfing website.

3.2. Bad Sites
I have chosen Insound, Dusty Groove, and Pitchfork as the examples of bad sites.
Insound is a website that sells other stuffs apart from the music and they all are so
mixed that the users will be confused using that. Also, there is a lot of white space
towards the right side which means the site is not well balanced. The colour scheme
does not match well and it has lot of white which makes it a bit dull. Dusty Groove looks
very ordinary and the contents are placed in a haphazard way. The site lacks visuals
and animation. The font does not look pleasant and attractive. The colour scheme is
poor as it has abundant white which makes it dull. Pitchfork has good colour scheme
but rest of the things do not work out for it. There are abundant of contents on home
page and they are poorly presented. The user do not like scrolling too much and they
want it all in a flash. The header of the site is not up to the mark. It contains only name
and it has lot of white effect in it.
3.3. Summary of Good and Bad Sites
The website should be kept clean and simple. The colour scheme should be wisely
designed which impels the users to stay back and search for the contents. The visuals
and animation play a great role in attracting the users. The header should be creatively
designed with a clear motto and logo of the company. The contents should be placed in
a way that users can easily spot what they are looking for. The quality of the contents
should be professional and rich. The images should be wisely selected matching with
the overall colour scheme of the website. The website should not have too much of
blank spaces, they should be filled rightly by adjusting other elements. Boring and dull
fonts should be avoided. A good site must offer a great aesthetic pleasure so that the
target audience is hooked on to the website and they can also refer to their knowns by
word of mouth publicity. Having a “wow” look is all important for word of mouth publicity.
Until the users are heavily impressed by the website they will not recommend others to
use the website.
4. CONTENT REQUIREMENTS
The content of the website is the most crucial element and rest of the things just follow.
The content should be relevant and strong which can attract the target audience. Also,
the content should be easily understandable and user friendly so that optimum number
of people can go through the same. The tragedy occurs when the target audience does
not find the site to be relevant. The content should be designed keeping in mind the
tastes and preferences of the target audience. Also, it is required to keep it simple and
user friendly so that optimum number of people can surf easily and find it worth for
them. Rich contents are the primary elements...
