Security Threat Group
    Security threat groups can be described as formal or informal groups of prison inmates. The security threat groups pose a significant threat to the other prison inmates as well as the officials who work in the prison premises. Security threat groups are generally formed to protect the different gang members. However, according to Decker and Pyrooz (2019), several illicit activities are associated with the security threat groups. These illicit activities are inclusive of murder, assault, kidnapping, substance distribution, and so on.

    A prison riot can be described as an act of defiance by the prison inmates against the other inmates of the prison or the prison staff. There are several causes of prison riots.
