In the segregationist regime the African American people were segregated based on the skin colour. The blacks were restricted to separate residence or institutions, schools, churches, restaurants, parks and playgrounds and for the usage of various other facilities on the basis race. In the 1950s due to the Jim Crow Act in the Southern states of United States there was legal segregation of the blacks for the usage of various public facilities.
