Introduction
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a serious yet preventable health issue, which affects majority of American population. According to Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are four types of intimate partner violence namely— sexual violence, physical violence, psychological violence and stalking. It also includes economic coercion (CDC, 2021). IPV affects women regardless education, social status in society, influential family background, sexual orientation, religion, race or color. As per California domestic violence laws, it is considered as a crime under Penal Code 243 (e)(1), that causing harm or corporal injury to an intimate partner is an offence, which is punishable.
