Within a gang member in United States, the individual finds the sense of identity, the feeling of belongingness, the sense of security and companionship, which they never felt at home and the youth join the gang to save themselves from other gangs. In term of crime and offence, United States, California is popular in this regard and hence the youth feel safe to join the gang rather than staying at home (Benier, Wickes & Moran, 2021).
The issue, which usually arises due to lack of proper knowledge about the gang and its member, is miscommunication, which leads to misunderstanding and therefore conflict occurs. The criteria in order to document a gang are community recognition of the group, the group’s recognition in itself as a distinct group of adolescents, the group’s involvement in illegal activities in order to violate and disturb the laws.
