Question: Describe and explain what is the key role of the police is? Explain why you think that this role is the key role. And as a police officer how will you contribute towards these key roles.
The key role of police is to maintain that law is executed fairly and firmly; making sure that the crime is prevented and bringing justice to those who are involved in breaking the law. Conflict resolution is also an integral part of roles that police handles. (Gwinn and O'Dell, 1992). Some other important roles that can be clearly outlined are:
Maintenance of Law & Order: To ensure proper care of citizens of state the police agencies follow a credo of “serve and protect”. This includes various aspects from helping in time of crisis to protecting natives from careless drivers on road, from protecting citizens to nuisance created by smugglers & traffickers to making arrest of people showing dangerous and illegitimate behavior to normal public.
