Dell is both a sociologist and a therapist. Like all sociologists she investigates structures that are intersubjective-shared, chat is, by everyone in a society. At the same time, as a therapist she is concerned with what seems to be unjque in the lives of individual women. To what degree does BelJ's research suggest that our subjective dilemmas are produced by our intersubjective environment-by social strnctures that exist before we are even born?
