They are also a local supplier of elite dance services to formal functions and corporate events in the state. HarpersDancers is well known for their high quality performances, their dynamic and high profile music artists and dancers. HarpersDancers is co-owned and managed by the couple Ms Haylee Bennet and Mr Darcy Bennet. The studios are managed independently but under their overall business vision and management. Each studio develops their own combination of styles such as Bollywood, Belly dancing, Can Can, Flamenco, Flash Mob, Jive and Rock N’ Roll, Line dancing, Latin Ballroom, Samba, Tap dancers, etc., which are subjected to the availability of their professional dancers and the demands of their business clients over time. HarpersDancers has a website to feature their dance styles, speciality acts, production shows, photos and media news from previous events, to provide contact details and an enquiry form. HarpersDancers’ clients are local entertainment agencies and businesses. They often find out about HarpersDancers through local advertising, personal networking, and their web site. The event management process can be described as follows. Initially, the client contacts HarpersDancers to arrange a dance performance for activities such as corporate functions, promotional events, celebrity nights, fashion shows, flash mobs for marketing campaigns, and weddings. The client is usually asked to fill in an initial form to provide them with information including event type, date/time/venue, dance ideas, audience type and size, any special note and contact details. HarpersDancers will then assign a consultant to work closely with the client to learn more about the event and their needs for a dance performance, as well as advising which particular act(s), show(s) or dance style(s) would meet their needs best. The consultant will select a HarpersDancers’ event coordinator who is available and has relevant expertise to develop a performance plan for the event. The consultant will discuss with the client and the coordinator to refine the performance plan, prepare a service contract and cost the service. Upon signing the contact, the client is requested to make a deposit of 50% of the service cost. The client is required to pay the full amount two days prior to the event specified in the contact. After delivering the performance, the client will receive a feedback form to provide HarpersDancers with comments and suggestions. There are options for the client to purchase professional photos and videos from the event. Most of the communication is conducted face to face, via phone, Skype, and email between the client, HarpersDancers’ customer service team, assigned consultant, selected event coordinator, music artists and dancers. HarpersDancers would like to explore a viable technology solution (such a Cloud platform with different portals) to automate the event management process to improve client’s experience and satisfaction, increase operational efficiency, receive reviews and promote their own performance and reputation. Haylee and Darcy wonder whether they would be Business Requirements Analysis Assignment 4 2 of 4 able to track how the clients learned about them, how to improve relationships with and retain their valuable clients. Furthermore, they want to identify valuable clients, and understand how the clients and the audiences ranked their staffs and dance performances. The Bennets are aware of the data analytics trend and welcome your suggestions for analytics solutions. Your mission is to develop a cost-effective technology solution to support the new event management process when the solution is implemented. In your Business Requirements Analysis process, use information extracted from the above case study description, undertake background research into a similar business and the market, and make assumptions if you need additional details. Document your assumptions and information sources. Assignment Objective Your objective is to conduct some independent research on the topic and the domain under study. There are TWO tasks. Task 1. Develop a requirements elicitation proposal (10 marks) To do this, you need to suggest a technology solution for HarpersDancers, identify stakeholders, end users and develop a proposal presenting two possible approaches to gathering their requirements. The requirements elicitation proposal should include the following aspects: 1. Name the suggested technology system for HarpersDancers. 2. List the stakeholders and end users of the proposed system and their roles and characteristics 3. Name and briefly describe two approaches to collect and elicit their requirements. Each approach may apply one or more requirements elicitation techniques described in Topic 4. 4. Each approach should explain how to apply each of these techniques to elicit users’ requirements for the suggested system, and why. 5. Discuss and evaluate potential benefits and issues you may face as a business analyst when using each approach and how to overcome. 6. Recommend an approach to collecting and eliciting users’ requirements in undertaking the business analysis exercise for HarpersDancers. Week 4’s materials and additional readings (Topic 4) would be useful, cite and include references that you use in completing this task. Task 2. Analysis/Modelling Task (10 marks) You should see one assignment 4 drop box available to you under Assignment 4 in the Cloud system. The drop box names ONE analysis or modelling technique assigned to you to perform. For your information, all analysis and modelling techniques are listed below. You are required to undertake only the one technique assigned to you in the drop box’s description. Business Requirements Analysis Assignment 4 3 of 4 List of all Analysis and Modelling Techniques 1 Undertake a current SWOT analysis, formulate two business technology strategies and recommend one strategy (Week 2) 2 Undertake a stakeholder analysis through developing a Stakeholder chart and an importance-influence chart (Week 3) 3 Specify user needs and solution requirements, and undertake a House of quality analysis (Week 4) 4 Develop an overall Use cases diagram for the technology solution and an event flow description for one complex use case (Week 5) 5 Develop an overall Use cases diagram for the technology solution and a Sequence diagram for one complex and essential use case (Weeks 5 and 6) 6 Develop a Domain class diagram for the technology solution (Week 6) 7 Develop a BPM using BPMN 2.0 for the main business process described in the case study (Week 7). 8 Develop three business analytics proposals (Week 8) 9 Brief one business analytics proposal, then based on it develop eight user stories with themes and epics for it (Week 9) 10 Brief one business analytics proposal, then based on it develop and evaluate four user stories using INVEST (Week 10) Important Notes Your assignment submission must include: 1. Requirements elicitation proposal 2. Your model/analysis 3. Assumptions Depending on the technique assigned to you, your solution will cover either the entire domain or one aspect of it. Therefore, it is up to you to decide the scope of your solution, to demonstrate specific details or be very holistic. You can refer back to the weekly workshop to decide which approach suits your model. For example, if your task is BPM then you should develop a to-be BPM for a business process that the new system will support. Use the relevant workshop form for the modelling task. Besides, depending on the model chosen, you then decide on the order of the assignment tasks. You may need to undertake Modelling task first then Propose an approach to requirements elicitation or the other way around. For example, if you’re assigned to undertake a “SWOT analysis” then you might want to undertake SWOT analysis, formulate strategies and propose a system as an initiative to implement the recommended strategy, identity the users for the system, and then develop and evaluate approaches to gathering requirements from the users. If “Domain class diagram” is assigned to you, then you should develop and evaluate approaches to gathering requirements from the users before undertaking the modelling task. In total, your assignment should not be more than 2500 words. We also expect no more than 6 pages, excluding references. Business Requirements Analysis Assignment 4 4 of 4 Rubric The following rubric will be used to assess your work. For more details about each model/technique, you may refer to workshop rubric for each model.
