Choose one criminal justice agency from Appendices A-E in your textbook, and discuss their code of ethics in your initial post. What does this code say? Then, try to locate a news story in which someone has violated this code of ethics. What was management's response to this violation? Read Appendices A-E, pages 145-153. Judicial Conference of the United States Code of Conduct: The code of conduct of the Judicial Conference of the United applies to all federal judges but is only advisory and nonbinding on Supreme Court justice. The rules explicitly permit judges to accept and participate in awards programs and to receive certain benefit from legal publishers. Listened here are the official canons, followed by expecerpts of commentary provided by the Judicial Conference. Canon 1: A judge should uphold the integrity and independence of the judiciary. (“Public CONFIDENCE IN THE IMPARTIALITY OF THE JUDICIARY IS MAINTAINED BY THE ADHERENCE OF EACH JUDGE TO THIS REPONSIBILITY.”) Canon2: A judge should avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety in all activities.
