(D) On page 442, some specific steps for guiding students through stages of drafting and revising a composition are listed. Try a role-play in which you demonstrate (with a student volunteer and his or her essay) a teacher-student conference in which you follow the guidelines. Ask your class to notice the interaction between student and teacher, and to comment on what you were doing. (If your classroom has projection equipment, the task could be enhanced by showing the essay and writing your comments—for your class to see—as you conduct the conference.)
