CYBER BULLYING AND SUICIDE OR TRANSGENDER AND SUICIDEInstructions
:

Write a paper that explores the influence of one cultural factor (e.g., gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation) on a topic related to death, dying or bereavement (e.g., suicide, parental grief, homicide, hospice care, funerals).
Examples of appropriate research topics include: "Gay teens and suicide", "What role does socioeconomic status play in the prevalence of homicides?", "Ethnicity and attitudes to hospice care", "Gender and parental grief" etc. If you need help coming up with a topic, please contact me.

Your paper must includeallof the following:

1) Identify the problem/issue and explain why it interests you personally.

2) As a future health educator, why is it important for you to know about this problem/issue.

3) What are the causes of this problem/issue (include your own personal opinion as well).

4) Describe mainstream attitudes in society about this issue/problem and state whether you think they are justified.

5) Compare this problem/issue to another country (e.g., Gay teens and suicide in the US and Russia, Ethnicity and homicides in the US and England, Gender and parental grief in the US and Canada). Makes sure you choose acountryand not a continent. For those of you who are confused between a country and continent, Kenya is a country and Africa is a continent. Sub-Saharan Africa is not a country. It is a region. Eastern Europe is not a country. It is a region.

6) Locate one organization in the US and one in this other country that deals with thisspecificissue/problem. Please make sure you choose an organization that deals with this specific issue and not an organization that has a broader mandate and deals with a host of issues. Describe the goals of each organization, types of services, problems and any other information you may think relevant. Give your opinion about how the two organizations compare against each other.

7) If someone asked if you could recommend a website, movie/documentary, and a book about this issue/problem, what would you tell them. Write a brief blurb about each one, identifying the name, author/source, what it deals with specifically and what things this person would find interesting about each. You must write about all three (website, movie/documentary and book). I expect more than a sentence or two copied off the internet. I expect you to have read the website and book and viewed the movie/documentary. The more detail you can give the better. It goes without saying that you cannot choose the textbook. You need to find another book to recommend. Make sure you choose a book, website and movie that is specifically tailored to your topic and not just about grief and bereavement in general.

8) Summarize the main ways this issue/problem is being addressed in the USandin the other country you have selected. Devote equal attention to both countries.

9) Identify one method/approach for addressing this issue/problem that you believe is good or has potential to be effective and explain why you prefer this method/approach over others. Here is where your grasp of the professional literature should be evident.

10) As a future health educator, state what contribution you can make in addressing this issue/problem on the local, nationalandinternational level. Be as specific as possible. No vague statements or generalizations. I expect you to put some thought into this and it should reflect your mastery of the issue/problem you wrote about.

Requirements:

a) Your paper should be double-spaced with Times New Roman 12 pt font.
Use 1" margins.

No large gaps between paragraphs. Each paragraph should be joined to the next paragraph. Begin each paragraph by indenting it 0.3".

b) HEA 360 students: your paper should be8-10 pages long (excluding cover page and bibliography) and you need to useat least5 peer-review journal articles. Feel free to write more.

Gay Teens and Suicide
Introduction:
One of the most important work of human beings or any other organism is to continue life in
this earth. This is carried out by producing babies and in order to do so a sexual relationship
is maintained. The sexual behaviour of human beings is described as Sexual Orientation
(Russell & Clake, 2009). The Sexual Orientation is behaviour; attraction and sexual or
romantic interaction between different partners. In general sexual orientation is divided into
the following types:
a) Heterosexual: In this case a person is sexually attracted and involved with the
opposite sex. Like
a relationship that is established between a male and a female.
b) Bisexual: In this case there are people who are attracted sexually towards both male
and females and thus maintain a sexual relationship with the same as well as opposite
partners.
c) Homosexual: This case describes the people who are romantically and sexually
attracted towards the same sex like a male have sexual relationships with male and
females have sexual relationship with females.
Based on these three types of orientation the sexual behaviours is studied in human beings.
As the main topic of this paper is Homosexuality and the suicide consequences attached with
it, hence we are going to focus only on Homosexuality.
Homosexuality is an age old practice that involves sexual relationship between people of
same sex. It is describe as a sexual attraction that develops in a person towards the similar
gender (Savin-Williams, 2008). Homosexuality is considered against the laws of the nature
because according to the nature a union between male and female that is the union between
opposite sex should be carried out in order to continue life in this world. This means that the
main motive of the nature is to continue the life process which is only possible by the sexual
relationship between a male and female and not between the people of the same sex.
Homosexuality can be traced back to million years when the world was ruled by kings and
queens. Even during those times homosexuality was there. In Hindu Mythology a lot has
been described on this same sex behaviour (Malley & Posner, 2008). But people were not
aware of it properly due to lack of communications. Today in the 21
st
Century homosexuality
has again raised as one of the hottest topic. The act which was being followed by many
people in secret has now come out into light and people have started accepting their true
sexual orientation. In today‟s world such people are known to be homosexuals and a male is
named as Gay who is attracted towards other males and females are known as Lesbians who
are attracted towards other females. But in many places Gays refers to both male and female.
In this paper also many times the word Gay will appear and it will indicate both the male and
female fraternity.
Homosexuality is considered as behaviour and researchers believe that this is a normal
behaviour and does not have anything to do with mental disorder. It would be highly wrong
to say that homosexual people are mentally disturbed. According to the researchers most of
the homosexuals has quite good childhood and leads a very normal life like heterosexuals.
They are also equally active in sex; the only difference is that their attractions are not towards
their opposite sex. Thus it is more of behaviour and not like disease. It can be said like many
people love both vegetarian and non vegetarian food whereas there are many people who do
not like non vegetarian food (Bell, 2010). So, it all depends on their taste and not on their
mental disorders. Thus like all human beings homosexuals are very much normal people with
all rights to lead a normal life.
Even though researchers have said that the homosexuality behaviour is not strange and
different still the society is not fully agreeing to it and have not yet accepted the homosexuals
as equal. Earlier due to this fear many homosexuals never let their true identity get revealed
but with the change in the generation people became smarter and began to fights for their
rights. Today there are many homosexuals all over the world who have strongly accepted
their true identity in front of the entire world (Waidzunas, 2011). There have been many
cases of gay marriages and many gays in different countries have fought to make the
marriages and the relationship legal. Many countries all over the world have also accepted
this and have approved the homosexual relationships legally. But still with all these
improvements the homosexuals do suffer till date. Even though the countries have made it
legal but still people find it difficult to treat the homosexuals as same and many family still
feel ashamed when they find their family members having this behaviour. This has lead to
problems in the lives of the homosexuals and many have gone under depression. According
to many gays most of the time they have to lead two different lives which ultimately make
them depressed and mentally disturbed. Homosexual‟s faces discrimination not only at family
but also on professional front where they are criticized and often are not provide respect
according to their skills. Some of the major issues faced by the homosexuals can be thus
summarized as Discrimination, Criticism, Laughing Stock, Family Pressure etc (Russell and
Clarke, 2009). All these things ultimately make many homosexuals reacts adversely and they
end up with alcohols, drugs and even many times commit suicide. In this paper also facts
related to Gay Teens and Suicide would be discussed.
In this paper this topic is being discussed because this topic holds lot of interest to me.
Homosexual as said is one of the most important topic in today‟s generation. It has lead to
various types of issues in the society. Being a health educator I consider that all human
beings should be given equal rights irrespective of their behaviour and habits. Through this
paper I want to discuss how society being so modern still performs discriminations and
creates problem for other. Through this paper I want to pass message of bringing harmony in
the society.
