Current Event Review (CER) Guidelines ENVS 1050 - Current Event Review (CER) Guidelines 25 points/each Due by midnight of day 7 Choose an interesting article related to recently covered topics from the textbook. You will be reviewing the article and then giving a further discussion, including how it relates to topics in the text. Your article can be no more than one month old. Be sure to use reputable media sources like Sciencedaily.com, New York Times, Detroit Free Press or Detroit News. You CANNOT use a blog, television or website as an article. If you find some other Environmental media source please contact me to confirm it is something you can review CER are graded right before the next CER is due. Be sure to view any comments and contact professor through inbox if you have questions. Requirements: 1. Name, date, CER # a. There will be four CER this semester b. Your file name should be your name and CER #, example TalbotCER1.pdf 2. Article information a. Title, author, source, date b. A clearly indicated copy or link to the article must be included c. CERs missing any of this information will receive a 0 3. A summary (7-10 sentences) of the article in your own words a. Chose an article that is long enough to review and you understand with limited research b. Include enough relevant, reworded facts to convince me you read and understood the article. i. Avoid quotations as it implies you do not understand the concept 4. A longer discussion (10 to 15 sentences) of the article a. Include your thoughts, specifically how it relates to a current topic (you must specifically reference textbook information b. What did you learn? c. What you found interesting and made you choose article? d. How you felt about it/how it changed your thinking?
