In order to be an informed citizen it is important that you remain educated about important events going on in our country and around the world. Your job for this assignment is to find an article that interests you AND deals with local or global political and/or economic events. Once you have found that article, you will analyze it, and inform your classmates of your findings.
Part 1: Find an article from a reputable news source in the newspaper or on-line. Look for an article that interests you.
1.Find an article related to American Government and Politics. Analyze the article. Why did you choose this article, why is it important in national or world events, give your opinion on the article, any historical background if necessary and explain why it is relevant for this class.
2.When you are reading, consider the following:
Does this political issue illustrate the struggle for power between the three branches of government?
Does this political issue illustrate the struggle for power between the states and the federal government?
Does this issue illustrate something about American political culture?
Does this issue illustrate the difference between conservative, liberal, populists and libertarians?
Does this issue illustrate the process of structure of government in some way?
Does this issue illustrate the power of a particular interest group?
Does this issue illustrate a political trend-for example, the rise in primaries, the increased use of initiatives, etc.?
Does this issue illustrate the differences between Republicans and Democrats?
Part 2: You will present your article to the class.
·You identify the title of the article and the source on the title slide.
·You are able to summarize the article and explain why you chose the article for the class. Present the information clearly, using Google Slides. A presentation is not reading from a paper. Engage the class by asking themTWOoriginal questions or having an interactive presentation.
