Cross-Sectional Regression; Rankings (See also Problem 8-54) Fortune magazine prepares an annual report of Best Companies (http://fortune.com/best-companies/) that ranks companies for workplace environment. The top 15 companies in the 2014 ranking are shown below, together with some basic data about the companies. Fortune magazine’s ranking is based upon surveys of employees in 257 participating firms. Survey questions focus on attitudes about management, job satisfaction, and workplace culture.
Required Use regression analysis to analyze the rankings and to determine if the rankings are related to the number of employees, new jobs (hires) in the past year, or number of job openings. What insights about the characteristics of the best companies do these data provide?
