Overview of Past the Shallows
Past the Shallows is one of the most unforgettable and emotive novels written by an Australian novelist Favel Parrett in 2011. The teenage voices of the three brothers in the novel had been aroused genuinely by Parrett, particularly, the appealing and vulnerable youngest brother, Harry. The devastating sadness of the family’s condition, when they came into term with the death of their mother and the harsh surrounding in which they lived and worked with a violent alcoholic father are depicted by the prose which is frequently spare and understated. The novel comes across numerous human experiences and the challenges to connect with the significant people in one’s life.
