Introduction
Marine parks ecosystem services are integral to Australia as it is an initiative to protect the ocean. Growing environmental issues are depleting all the resources that are available in the earth and increasing the climate related to issues that ar
e affecting the lives of all living beings in every part of the world. The aim of the report is to discuss about the ecosystem services provided by the Australian Marine parks. There are various ecosystem services provided by them but in this paper, three topics are discussed in detail they are food production ecosystem, water treatment and climate regulation (Grafton, Akter and Kompas, 2011). These three ecosystem services are chosen because they are highly relevant and can be improved through better control and management. Food production ecosystem will ensure that the marine parks can pass rules that can control the overfishing activities and take other plants and organisms from the underwater.
Water treatment is another important variable because when the quality of water depletes it will affect the quality of life of those living on land and those living in the water. The climate problem is not about any specific region of people it is a world problem, and everyone in the world is facing problem due to them (Binet et al., 2013). As these topics are crucial for all people and everyone should understand the issues and how the marine ecosystem is taking initiatives in protecting the environment. The report provides a clear outline about the chosen ecosystem services, risks associated with them, future risks, the tradeoff between the provisions and whether these ecosystem services can be provided in a socially desirable manner by the market.
Ecosystem Services
Marine park network in Australia provides various ecosystem services. The three ecosystem services analyzed are food production ecosystem, water treatment and climate regulation. The function of the food production ecosystem is to decide the permissible portion of the gross primary production extractable as food from the ocean and aims at protecting the living organism in the region. From oceans, various food and crops are taken out that exploits the life in the ocean (Lemasson et al., 2017). These marine parks in Australia have the responsibility in controlling overfishing, protecting the habitat degradation and exploitation of resources from the ocean beyond certain limits. The aim is to reduce the misuse of the resources and protect them from the other predators to ensure that they are not depleted and ensured to maintain the better balance in the ocean life.
Another ecosystem service is water treatment indicates the recovery of the nutrients and breaking down or removal of the xenic or excess of nutrients and other components. Water pollution is high in every country, and they are polluting the entire ocean which can cause more trouble to the entire oceanic lives (Lemasson et al., 2017). The water treatment ecosystem pays attention to various variables like how to recover the nutrients or removal of any excess nutrients or any xenic component from the water. It will result in improving the overall quality of the water and will ensure that the marine water is not highly polluted....
