Instructions: Please write a “white paper” on a controversial topic in cancer biology. “Typically, the purpose of a white paper is to advocate that a certain position is the best way to go or that a certain solution is best for a particular problem.” Here is a good resource for how to write a white paper: https://coschedule.com/blog/how-to-write-white-papers/ They will continue to entice you to buy their software but keep closing it out – you can still read the information Here is a page with some good examples of white papers: https://venngage.com/blog/white-paper-examples/ This site has lots of interesting templates but be careful, students in the past have used the free 7 day trial but I didn’t always get to grade them in time before they were not available. I suggest that you look at the ones there, get some info and then create your white page in publisher or word or some other program you have available to you. Your white paper should have a cancer biology theme. Some possible topics (but you are not limited to) are: Should gene therapy be used to treat cancer? Should a pre-existing condition like cancer eliminate a person’s ability to get health insurance? Should hospitals/clinics be required to treat uninsured cancer patients? How should undereducated and people in low economic status be aware of and partake in early detection of cancer? Should all patients be allowed to participate in all experimental treatments for cancer? Should research and development of drugs to treat rare cancers be required and/or supported by federal dollars? Or suggest one of your own… Your white paper should be 6-8 pages include references and pictures are suggested. It should be uploaded as a PDF. Upload to iCollege under assessments----assignments.
