Assessment 2: Case Study Presentation (50%)



For our second assignment, you are required to choose a Primary Education (5-11 years).


You need to designa supportive, inclusive and welcoming learning environment that enables these children to participate actively and optimises learning and wellbeing, for which you will write a rationale.


There are three elements to this assignment: (1) design; (2) rationale; and, (3) letter for families.




1.

Design:


· Create awelcoming learning setting for children in your chosen age range


· Your design should be theoretically influenced, which you can discuss in your rationale


· Design your setting in a creative and innovative way, including indoor and outdoor spaces. You might consider sketching, drawing, animating, developing a Computer Aided Design (CAD; e.g. Classroom Architecthttp://classroom.4teachers.org//), or creating amodel. You are encouraged to think beyond a traditional classroom.




2.

Rationale:


· Provide a written rationale which explains and justifiesyour design


· Address how the design will be welcoming for children and adults, honour diversity, engage families, meet ethical and professional requirements, and support your personal approach for guiding behaviour.


· Connect to literature and other relevant sources to show alignment with theory and to substantiate your ideas




3.

Letter for families:


· As an appendix, prepare a one-page document which communicates the nature of your design and its merits to families.


· Your letter should be clear, accessible, and engaging. It should contribute to building/sustaining strong and respectful relationships with families.


· This component of the assignment isnotincluded in the word count.




4.

Presentation & formatting:


Your assignment must be submitted through Turnitin as one document. It is recommended that you develop your assignment in Word, with the components sequenced as above, and convert to PDF prior to submission.


You can include your design in the document by photographing your model, scanning in your sketch, screencapping your CAD, etc. Make sure it is as high-resolution as possible. It needs to be clearly visible and presented to a professional standard.


· Please name your PDF as follows: Surname_FirstName_MTP503_A2


· Word count for rationale: 2500 words (+/- 10%)


· Title page, contents page, numbered pages and reference page (not in word count)


· Use headings to structure your rationale


· Format with 11pt Arial or Times New Roman font

Introduction
The project report is discuss about the classroom architect or design for 5 to 11 years of student. The classroom design and essential facilities for students includes classroom, canteen, and play-ground, garden, indoor &
outdoor games facilities. The project report is provides mainly three aspects of “design architect” includes design, rationale and latter of formalities. The primary education design includes architecture support, inclusive and welcome learning environment that allows children to take part in different activities and optimized learning through theoretical and practical aspect by experience. The project report is demonstrate “design architect” for classroom using different tools and computer application for more detail presentation and suggest “effective” classroom for primary student or students for 5 to 11 years (Morton, J., 2012).
1. Design
The classroom design and essential area for 5 to 11 years of children and provides essential facilities for metal growth, academic development and personality development consideration. As per research and study, each child is special, and having unique ability at the early child days. The school and class atmosphere affect on “unconscious mind”. At the age of 5 to 11, the children is just at growing level and tries to execute their skills, ability, choice of career and many more aspects.
By considering this fact, the classroom and surrounding design such a way that the student interact most and shows their interest toward what they want. The following is provides some key aspects of welcome learning arrangement for children at particular age and provides complete school design with arrangement of classroom.
a. Well organized room :
The classroom must well organized, attractive and past pictures over the wall of classroom with “Artistic design”, “slogan about learning” and “cartoonist alphabetic & numerical” as well. The classroom design such a way that will get fresh air, bright wall color and “aesthetic appearance” for attract student.
b. Decorate classroom walls :
It is recommends to paste few pieces of artwork and splash of color that can do wonders for the classroom. The simple decorations will invite student in without overwhelming them with too much to look at. The parents can see that the classroom is child friendly arrangement.
c. Place some cubbies, class list, name tags and labels
Put some taglines over the classroom which mentioned that the classroom may welcome you. For example; “we are happy to see you “the labeled cubby mentioned that the children where to safety see belongings.
d. Create the welcome area :
Put out the small journal or arrangement a whiteboard or the easel with the paper so the current families can write the messages to welcome newcomers. The new families can introduce themselves and their children as well. Mentioned welcome sign and other decorative which is demonstrate the special day.
e. Classroom and environment arrangement :
The classroom design is such a way that child attract toward the environment and should eco-friendly arrangement that makes comfortable for each age of student.
f. Arrangement of learning centers and table arrangement with the few engaging toys and relevant material :
The classroom arrangement is dramatic and more relevant to children. The surrounding of classroom must decorate such a way that the student can spend some more time for creativity, art, playing with children and become familiar with new environment.
By considering above fact, the following is provides design of classroom and essential elements for school require for 5 to 11 years student (Salama, A.M., 2016).

The above diagram is prepared by using AutoCAD software and highlight some essential elements require for “classroom architecture”. It shows different structure and arrangement of classroom and essential services require for student. That means, the classroom surrounding has indoor and outdoor space for playing and other activities. The canteen and cafeteria provided for refreshment facilities. The podium is provides for cultural and other activities. The classroom is surrounded by garden and numbers of tree for making piece-full environment and study oriented environment. The bus parking and vehicle parking provided for the staff and student as well. The computer library and conventional book library provided for student to aware about science and technology Thibaut, P.et.al.(2015). The classroom design is prepared by considering environment, student growth and provide environment for execute their skills, knowledge and innovative idea implement in different area such as art, science, sports, innovation, computer skills etc.
