Assertive Community Treatment
An assertive community treatment programme (ACT) is a kind of community-based psychological health intervention for people who have major mental illnesses that make it difficult for them to live in the community, have appointments with specialists in hospitals and clinics, and address their symptoms (Cuddeback et al., 2020). It is a multidisciplinary team intervention that includes assertive community engagement. Relationships that are constant, empathetic, as well as person-centered, have a significant impact on the outcome and quality of life. ACT's objective is to assist individuals in becoming self-sufficient and merging into the community when they recover. The treatment approach was initially termed "community living training" (Trane et al., 2021).
SUDs (substance use disorders) are a major public health concern across the world. Conventional outpatient programmes sometimes fail to meet significant social and medical requirements, and several patients have difficulty getting essential treatment. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the efficacy of ACT for substance use disorder patients using a range of metrics. Overall, ACT has been demonstrated to be a potential strategy that may be effective for increasing treatment adherence in SUD sufferers.
