Introduction
In general terms, an entrepreneur is a person who invests his or her unique business idea to change the landscape of business and earn profit on terms, being the owners of own business, bringing in social solution in exchange of economic resources. In the current report, Sami AlSayed has been selected as a successful entrepreneur. AlSayed has a company named ShortPoint that offers software designs for websites and has its headquarters in Dubai. The current report tends to show AlSayed’s entrepreneurship, the struggles and the sought opportunities that have been responsible for the success of the business.
The Entrepreneurial Mind-set and the Ethical Dilemmas faced by Sami AlSayed
Sami AlSayed’s entrepreneur mindset developed from long experience in the field of web designing and online content framing. Seeking the scope of attracting users to an easy and effective web design AlSayed started his business on a fair ground with huge potential (ShortPoint 2018). AlSayed had huge determination that led him to set up his own business against corporate giants in the industry. AlSayed’s entrepreneur mindset also made him aware of the fact that customers are very important for business and therefore, their feedbacks are always in favour of business if they can be incorporated and worked upon with a positive outlook (SAP Teched, 2016). The risk-taking attitude in AlSayed made him borrow money from business partners. It is worth the mention that due to the inclusion of the business partners and feedbacks of the customers and clients, AlSayed developed ethical dilemma in the initial days of his business.
Despite having a very positive start, in 2013 ShortPoint faced negative feedbacks from its customers, clients and initial market partners. The feedbacks were regarding the stability, versatility and the value for money proposition offered by AlSayed through ShortPoint. In order to refine the offered service and inculcate the feedbacks in a positive way, the versions released online were updated in frequent basis, which caused the company to invest heavily, resulting in the generation of loss in the early stages of the business (Wamda, 2015). The loss of the funds in attempt to make the offered services better, the company went towards bankruptcy, which made AlSayed consider and get confused on the issue of pushing in updates and their frequencies. The dilemma at the workplace aroused as on one side, the high costs demanded to be reduced and on the other, the customer feedback consideration was stuck to the company functioning body. As mentioned by Sewchurran, Dekker and McDonogh (2018), a business dependent on the monetary investment of the business partners and their interest, conflicting priorities and lead to problems and ethical dilemmas. The same issue made AlSayed’s ethically dilemma more severe. In order to meet both the ends, AlSayed expanded the offer of his service to organisations such as schools, public firms and other autonomous body to gather monetary income sources that can bear the load of consistent updates and the share of the partners of the business (Wamda, 2015).
