There are several ways to interpret Canada's designation as a "multicultural society," including politically, prescriptively, or descriptively. Multiculturalism is the presence of people from various racial and ethnic backgrounds, according to sociological research. Multiculturalism is a generally consistent set of beliefs and principles that promote the appreciation of Canada's cultural diversity. Multiculturalism is the formal management with diversity through federal, provincial, territorial, and local activities at the policy level.
