To answer the below question, you will need to enter the dataset provided below. You will run an analysis on this dataset in SPSS using parametric tests. An occupational psychologist is hired to monitor Lecturer engagement and burnout during the restructure of a Canadian University. The psychologist administers the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) over three time points to the same 30 staff members: 3 months before the restructure started, in the middle of the 3 month restructure, and 3 months after the restructure. None of the staff were made redundant or took voluntary redundancy during the 9 months, but may have experienced stress and anxiety. The scores on the Personal Achievement sub-scale were reverse scored and an overall score was calculated by adding those scores to scores on the other two sub-scales, i.e., Burnout and Depersonalization. Higher total scores on the MBI indicate more susceptibility to burnout, which can result in greater staff absenteeism, low morale, and increased substance abuse. The data are below. a) Report the findings including normality assumption testing as per guidelines given for assessment 1, minor data analysis, e.g., exact p values when reporting all levels of Shapiro-Wilk. Report in full any assumptions required for the main ANOVA. Report the main ANOVA as per APA guidelines and give an indication of whether the effect size is small (.01), medium (.06), or large (.14) using partial eta squared. Background: People often make use of memory aids to help remember things in daily life. A psychologist was interested in whether technology can improve prospective memory and whether this interacts with age. Twenty-seven young adults (18-27 years, M = 24.62, SD = 2.43) and 27 middle-aged adults (50-59 years, M = 55.03, SD = 2.49) took part in a study that tested their prospective memory over a 5 week period. Participants were allocated to one of the three memory-aid conditions None (control), Paper based diary (day to a view style) and Smartphone (choice of using an iOS or Android bespoke app). They were all in paid employment with a median salary of $62,000 per annum for the younger adults and $78,000 per annum for the middle-aged adults. Before the trial started everyone met with a Research Assistant (for approximately 2 hours) and were given some basic health and cognitive screening tests. They were then given training (for approximately 1 hour) on using the paper diary or smartphone depending on which condition they were assigned. along with the experience sampling app. Once the trial started the number of self-reported prospective memory failures per week were recorded (on a mobile phone for all conditions) and this was totalled over 5 weeks. The first week of data was not used as this gave people chance to become familiar with their memory aid and the experience sampling method and app. Note: this is hypothetical data and is not based on any one published journal article. For a) you should consider the normality for 6 conditions separately (hint: use split file command). Unlike Q1 here and the minor data analysis assessment you do not have to report the exact p values for Shapiro Wilk, but the reader should know which of the conditions are or are not violated. For the homogeneity of variance assumption, you should report it once (in full with DFs) for the whole ANOVA. 2. You should report the 2 main effects and interaction terms in full, regardless of whether significant or not. You should report partial eta squared effect sizes (for main ANOVA terms only, not post-hoc tests nor simple effects analyses) and indicate whether small (.01), medium (.09), or large (.25). Note. This heuristic is more conservative than the one requested for one-way ANOVAs. If applicable you should also report post-hoc tests with exact p values. For this assessment we would like you to use the Tukey test. 3. For this assessment you should only run and report one set of simple main effects analyses and this should be clear from your syntax. For this assessment, we’d like that to be the simple effects of the Age IV within each level combination of the Memory aid IV. The reader should be able to discern which of these 3 simple effects is or is not significant. It is possible that running them the ‘other’ way may have led to a different interpretation or helped interpretation. But please run, interpret, and report the way requested. 4. You do not need to report effect sizes for the simple effects, just for the main ANOVA terms as per point 2 above. However, wherever possible you should report actual p values for each simple effect. 5.
