After World War 2 ended, the post war period 1945-1960, had American teenagers feel as if they were on a very slippery slope. The economy, politics, and culture of this era shaped their values, attitudes towards others, and behaviors. With the intimidation of another Cold War on the horizon, Americans were forced to believe that at any moment a bomb would go flying pass there heads hitting innocent citizens. Nevertheless, American teenagers found ways to overcome these troubling times by creating and finding new ways to express themselves. "Teenagers after the war looked into fashion, clubs, and music and this became a booming entertainment surplus which gave the American teenagers a sense of ease to their life." At the same time, the government was pushing the people mostly teenage men to comply with the government and support the war efforts. In conclusion, American teenagers were climbing a rocky cliff, with boulders of mistrust, misinformation, and misguidedness falling around them. I believe they were robbed of the opportunity to just be teenagers and have fun while they were young.
