Consider the following meeting dynamics of a Six Sigma team in the analyze phase. The team is behind schedule and has a presentation due to upper management next week. An agenda has been set to determine where to focus improvements and calculate the COPQ/CODND. The last few meetings have seemed like reruns with no clear direction on where to drill down and focus low-hanging-fruit improvements. During the meeting various group members share conflicting opinions about what area of the process should be the point of focus for improvements. Team member are complaining that nothing is getting done and are losing momentum to work on the project. The team leader will not budge on the direction he thinks the team should go in, although most members are in disagreement. Discuss and record what went wrong, how the facilitator could have acted differently in order to gain team consensus, and what tools/actions are most appropriate for this scenario.
