Consider the flow in a long, heated pipe in which the properties of an incompressible fluid can be adjusted by adding a soluble additive. The Nusslet numbers in the pipe, whose walls are hydraulically smooth, are to be calculated. For Pr = 1.5, 5, and 10, and for several values of ReD in the 104–2× 105range, calculate and compare the predictions of the analogies of von Karman, Chilton–Colburn, and Yu et al., and compare them with the predictions of the empirical correlation of Gnielinski.
