Consider a topic about which you know a lot. Write down everything you would want to tell someone who was just learning about that subject. Then organize the information. Does it work better topically or chronologically? Write a how-to story with yourself as expert. Or, think of a topic about which you would like to know more, such as what equipment to buy for mountain climbing or for water or winter sports. Who would you interview to get information for a how-to story? What are the strengths and weaknesses of these various potential sources as credible teachers? Would you prefer to interview just one of them at length or talk to as many people as possible? Why?
