Consider a maze of 6 cells as shown below. At time 0, a rat is placed in cell one and food in cell 6. The rat stays in one cell for unit of time and then chooses one of the doors in the cell at random and moves to an adjacent cell. The rat has equal probabilities to move to each of the adjacent cells and will stay in cell 6 with food once it reaches it. Until then its successive moves are independent and completely uninfluenced by the food.
