Compute a P-value for the right-tail test in Example 9.25 on p. 272 and state your conclusion about a significant increase in the number of concurrent users.

Example 9.25

(Z-test about a population mean). The number of concurrent users for some internet service provider has always averaged 5000 with a standard deviation of 800. After an equipment upgrade, the average number of users at 100 randomly selected moments of time is 5200. Does it indicate, at a 5% level of significance, that the mean number of concurrent users has increased? Assume that the standard deviation of the number of concurrent users has not changed.

Test: µ > 5000 with normal distn
Hypothesis test:
H0 : µ ≤ 5000 (Null Hypothesis, H0 : µ = 5000 is
also correct)
Ha : µ > 5000 (Alternative Hypothesis, also called H1)
This is upper tailed test (one tailed test).
x = 5200
σ = 800
n = 100
Significance Level, α = 0.05
Test statistic z? = x− µ
σ/

n
Test Statistic, z? = 5200− 5000
800/
