Life of a Slave Girl
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Jacobs Harriet with the pseudonym of Linda Brent (2013), brings out the issue of sexual abuse of female slaves through her own experiences. The issue was widespread in the nineteenth century in America but was not discussed publicly to bring a revolution. Brent throws a light to such issue through her autobiography where she uses a first-person approach to show the discriminations, she faced based on her color and the invisibility of such race in the American society.
The Struggle and Sexual Abuse of Slave Women
The book created an emotional journey for me when I gathered the knowledge about the struggles faced by the women of the African American origin. The sexual abuse they go through during their slavery period is uncanny. Brent included the abolitionist movement against the act of slavery and acted for a political solution to the issue.
