Introduction
Organizational behaviour in the real world is the conceptual study of how people will interact with each other within a group. This interaction successively influences how well the organization is behaving and performing. Organizational behaviour depends on four elements: people, structure, technology and the external environment. By understanding the interaction between these elements, further improvements can be possible. For example, people and structure coordination and progress are easy to control rather than technology and the external environment.
In this report, we will first provide the background of the chosen organization, which is Walmart. Then, the report would be analyzing the aspects of motivation and teamwork done in the organization, Walmart. Furthermore, interviews conducted with the employees in this aspect would be analyzed, thus, ending the report with an inferential conclusion.
Background of Walmart Organization
Walmart organization is a multinational retail corporation in America that runs its work on a departmental discount store. Walmart organization can be considered as a chain of grocery stores and hypermarkets. Sam Walton founds the Walmart organization in 1962, while the headquarters of the Walmart organization are in Bentonville, Arkansas (Elimimian & Elimimian, 2020). Walmart organization is headed over 27 countries under 55 diverse names (Martinez, Galvan & Alam, 2017). In around 27 countries, the organization is operating under 55 various names (Shyamala, Sabarish, Vignesh & Yogeendran, 2021).
The Walmart organization is functioning as Walmart in Canada and it is serving as Asda in the United States. The slogan "Save more. Live Better" highlighted the function of the organization (Elimimian & Elimimian, 2020). The organization allows the customer to do big shopping to save a large amount of money on their shopping. Now it is clear that the strategy of this organization is to influence the larger market share by adopting the low-price strategy for customers.
Therefore, the Walmart organization increase the business value and explore the growth of the company. This organization also focuses on providing product quality to valuable customers to gain their trust and loyalty. As a result, the Walmart organization achieve much excellence. They respect their customers and every person and maintain the integrity of their company. The company is now well established because of its demand in the market and strategy.
Analysis of the Lessons Learnt About Motivation in Walmart and from Course
In today's organization, the most challenging thing is the dynamic business environment. The factor that motivates an organization to perform well in the workplace is the employee's need and socio-economic structure. The company faces many issues regarding the organization's behaviour in terms of employee motivation. The main issue the employee faces in their organization is discrimination among employees, which affects employees' mental state and work performance.
According to Okafor and Afolabi (2021), Maslow's Need Hierarchy theory, the very necessary thing that an organization should be kept in mind is the psychological need of the individual working in the organization. The individual always searches for a good job to earn a regular earning and is engaged. Employment is the only way, through which an employee fulfills their basic needs.
If the point is of Walmart organization, then Walmart offers very low wages to their employee, due to which employees of Walmart organization can't able to fulfil their psychological needs. To fulfill their psychological needs, livelihood and allow them to live a good life, the employees of Walmart are required to get subsidies and food stamps.
Bratton, Callinan, Forshaw and Sawchuk (2021) stated Physiological Needs are needs that involve the physical requirement of an individual for survival, such as clothing, food, shelter, water and sleep. Suppose the psychological needs of an individual are not fulfilled. In that case, it will directly affect the function of the human body, which will negatively affect an employee's performance and affect the goodwill of a Walmart organization.
According to Maslow, the psychological needs are considered the most important need or primary needs of an individual and other need are considered the secondary needs that are meant to be fulfilled after an individual meets the immediate need. Another need is safety needs and these types of needs include security, individual protection from a different element, safety law and order, stability of job and freedom from any fear.
After fulfilling primary and secondary psychological and safety needs, an individual now wants to fulfill their Love and Belongingness Needs and these types of needs include the involvement of love and belongingness...
